Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle recently installed Garrett Metal Detectors at the entrance of the hospital’s emergency department.
The security system includes a multizone walk-through metal detector and hand-held detectors to screen anyone who enters the hospital through the ER entrance. The detectors will be active 24 hours a day and are safe to use with medical implants, during pregnancy and with recording media or magnetic strips.
“We are committed to making our hospital as safe as possible,” said Madison Guyton, administrative director of safety and security for Baptist Golden Triangle. “As we see more stressful situations happening in our communities, we wanted to update our security measures to enhance the safety of our facility for patients, staff and visitors. We ask that anyone planning to visit our hospital leave their weapons, including knives, pepper spray, etc., at home.”
Baptist Golden Triangle is the first Baptist Memorial Hospital to install metal detectors. All Baptist Memorial hospitals are weapon-free zones and have implemented a number of safety measures during the past few years to increase security at its hospitals, including using new technology and video cameras, offering staff training, conducting regular security patrols and providing security escorts to and from hospital parking lots.
