Educators are Essential FREE Conference
Saturday, September 09, 2023
The Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the first ever, Educators Are Essential FREE Conference on Saturday, September 9th from 9:00 – 2:00 with registration and breakfast beginning at 8:30! We have revamped our traditional Educators are Essential pep rallies to better accommodate all schools with differing academic calendars. This conference titled, “What the Textbooks Didn’t Teach You” is open to all educators and non-teaching professionals; however, seats are limited!
We are excited to welcome keynote speaker, Dr. Stephanie Duguid with Do Good Leadership presenting “What do I do with this pencil?” which is about keeping classrooms in tune with the children and young adults we are teaching in a post-covid modern world. It covers how the learner has changed and how we are responsible for changing with the learner, not having the learner change to us. More information about Dr. Duguid can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/DoGoodLeadership
Other notable speakers and topics include:
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins speaking on school safety from a law enforcement perspective.
Dr. Brad Beckham will introduce attendees to the Stop the Bleed Program which they will then have the opportunity to receive training from Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle. More information on that program here: https://www.stopthebleed.org/training/. BMH-GT will be providing STOP THE BLEED kits to every attendee which is a $110 value.
Rich Sobolewski & Dr. Kristi DiClemente will present Artificial Intelligence: AI IS REVOLUTIONIZING EDUCATION
Leta Palmiter with Illuminations Center for Dyslexia will present Dyslexia in the Classroom
The PRIZES and SWAG BAGS are going to be amazing! We have partnered with local business donors to bring attendees the chance to win thousands of dollars in door prizes throughout the day, with a grand prize $500 Classroom Makeover sponsored by International Paper! Friendly City Books will be on site with a PopUp Book Shop where, through generous grant funds, each attendee will take home 3 free books of their choice.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for each attendee at no cost!
The onsite teacher resource fair is another great opportunity for teachers to access vital resources offered through our local business community.
.5 CEUS will be available with FULL DAY (9-2) attendance for $20. CEUs available to register/purchase on-site on the day of the conference.
As mentioned before, seats are limited, and registration is required. The benefits to attending this conference are endless!
