MCEF - Mississippi Construction Education Foundation Camp

The Misssissippi Construction Education Foundation is offering a summer camp for students who want a hands-on view of the design and construction field! MCEF is partnering with The University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State University to provide programs for 8th-12th grade students that teach construction knowledge by learning and exploring new design techniques through hands-on activities during a combined two week summer camp. 

When: June 23-27, 2019 and July 14-18, 2019 

Where: June camp is held on the MSU Campus in Starkville and July camp is held on the USM campus in Hattiesburg

Cost: Registration cost is $500 with few scholarships available 

Included in registration cost are lodging and on-campus dining.

CULINARY ARTS INSTITUTE – CULINARY CAMP FOR KIDS

When: For 2nd and 3rd grades, the camp spans from June 5th through June 9th. For 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, the camp spans from June 12th to the 16th and again from June 19th through the 23rd. The session that hosts 7th through 12th grade is held from June 26th to June 30th.
Where: The camp is located in the professional setting of MUW’s Culinary Arts Institute at 1100 College Street Columbus, MS 39701.
What: Culinary Camp for Kids is a week-long, hands-on camp that teaches campers practical techniques to produce recipes that can easily by repeated at home. The campers will gain practical skills in the correct uses of appliances, healthy meal planning, and etiquette.
Cost: The cost is $250 per child for each session.

SUMMER DISCOVERY

When: Summer Discovery session one spans June 19 - 23. Kindergarten session is from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The session that includes 1st through 6th grade spans from 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM. Summer Discovery session two spans June 26-30. Kindergarten session is from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The session that includes 1st through 6th grade spans from 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM.
Where: Summer Discovery is hosted by Heritage Academy at 625 Magnolia Lane in Columbus, MS 39705.
What: This is a daily educational program that provides opportunities for gifted students to discover their own areas of interest and potential; to think critically and creatively about different concepts, problems, and issues; and to create new and original ideas and products.
Cost: The cost for kindergarten students is $145 per week while the cost for students in 1st through 6th grade is $165.

THE MISSISSIPPI SCHOOL FOR MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE (MSMS) SUMMER ENRICHMENT CAMPS

The MSMS hosts two summer camps each summer, one for rising 7th and 8th graders, and the other for rising 9th and 10th graders. Campers spend a week on the MSMS campus digging deep into fun and hands-on STEM-related courses. Tuition is $700 and covers all fees and expenses (financial assistance is available for qualified applicants with demonstrated need).

Examples of courses include: Apps for Good, Blast Off, Crash Course in Robotics, Engineering and Teamwork, Math Art, the Math of Flight, Positively Medieval, Convergent Media, Visual Programming, and many other exciting STEM courses.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

When: Vacation Bible School is held during June 12th-16th starting at 9:00 AM each morning.
What: VBS is a week-long morning camp hosted by First Baptist to engage the youth of the church in activities centered on learning the principles of Christianity.
Where: VBS will be held at First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Mississippi, at 602 Main Street.
Cost: The camp is free.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

When: Vacation Bible School will be held from June 5th to June 9th.
What: VBS is a week-long morning camp hosted by First Baptist to engage the youth of the church in activities centered on learning the principles of Christianity.
Where: VBS will be held at 202 7th St N in Columbus, MS, at First Baptist Church.
Cost: The camp is free.

FAIRVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

When: VBS at Fairview Baptist Church during June 5th-9th from 8:30 AM – 11:45 AM.
What: VBS is a week-long morning camp hosted by First Baptist to engage the youth of the church in activities centered on learning the principles of Christianity. It is opened to children 4 years old to children who have completed the 6th grade.
Where: Fairview VBS will be held at Fairview Church in Columbus, MS, at 127 Airline Rd.
Cost: VBS is free.
